Janet Hope Horwitz, Psy.D. (Located in Multiple States at New Beginnings)
With over 30 years of experience helping individuals and couples, I am most passionate about giving my patients the experience of feeling understood and accepted. I encourage you to talk about whatever is troubling you. Through careful listening and posing thought provoking questions, a space of possibility is opened up to consider life challenges in a different light.
I help you to more closely tune into your thoughts and emotions and put words to these. The more you can do this in the sessions, the more you can do this out in the world with your important others. The ultimate goal is to feel more empowered in your life.
I have advanced psychoanalytic training but use other modalities in therapy. In my work with couples, I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) to help partners recognize the patterns that keep them stuck in repetitive cycles that cause distance between them while providing a safe space to allow for communication from a softer, more vulnerable place.
Expertise:
Depression
Stress and Anxiety
Relationship Issues
Motivation, Self-Esteem, and Confidence
Coping with Life Changes
Couples conflict
Anger management
Populations:
Adults 18+
Couples
Clinical Approaches:
Psychodynamic Therapy

Attachment-based Therapy
